In recent years, the Anatolian peninsula (Turkey) has become very signiﬁcant in debates about the homeland of the Indo-European language family and about some fundamental developments in the Near Eastern Neolithic. This chapter discusses some of these archaeological developments, and examines the spread of Neolithic populations after 7000 bce from Anatolia into southeastern Europe.
