ASORing Again: “Roman Lamps from Northwest Cyprus”

By the time you’re reading this, we’re either buried under 5-8 inches of snow or I’m on my way to the annual meeting of the American Society of Overseas Research (aka ASOR).
This year I’m giving two papers and to keep you coming back to the blog, I’m going to post them today and tomorrow.
The first paper is my standard Polis paper which is an update on what Scott Moore, Nancy Serwint, and I have been working on lately. It’s called “Roman Lamps from Northwest Cyprus,” but the paper focuses in particular on a Roman period kiln and an assemblage of lamps. If nothing else, the paper has some nice photos of the kiln in it and a few nice slides of lamps. You can download our paper after the images. It is quite preliminary
The paper will appear in the second of the three Cyprus panels on Friday. I’m looking forward to Melanie Godsey, Tom Landvatter and Brandon Olson’s paper “Daily Life in a Fortification on Cyprus: Excavations at Pyla-Vigla 2024” (as well as a few others from colleagues and friends).
