Carnivals

The latest History Carnival is up and it’s another good one. No, I’m wrong, I’ve just flipped back to the other window and scrolled down a little. From my point of view it’s not good, it’s excellent. The posts in the first section are hard going, but well worth it. I don’t know if I agree with Acephalous’s post On ‘Useable’ History: A Rant in One Long, Hoarse Howl, but it’s well thought out. I’ll need to think hard about it if I do disagree. Then there’s The Spirit of History which I’ll bear in mind next time I write a How to write an essay piece for 1st years. It’s about why plagarism is a bad thing. Or rather it isn’t. More accurately it’s about why not plagarising is a good thing:

If we catch you you’ll be sorry.

I’m in danger of going through the posts one by one, so I’ll just link to it again.

The Britblog Roundup is also up. It has posts on the England Football Manager fiasco. Me, I would have chosen God as the manager, but Phil was the best mortal option. But really you’d have to be a masochist to take the job on, particularly if you’re planning to be a foreigner for the duration of the contract.
