Carnivals Ahoy!
The latest Four Stone Hearth is up at Testimony of the Spade. I’ve found it helpful as I’m not following many weblogs at the moment due to working on things. I’ve no doubt I’ll be singing the praises of Your Folks, My Folks in Prehistory sometime in the future, as the problems with ethnicity that Martin talks about are often ignored in Classical History, and ancient authors are not always reliable sources on ethnicity. I’ll have to remember to recommend that for Open Lab 2007.
In archaeological theory Cornelius Holtorf puts much more politely than I would the oddity of talking about processual vs. post-processual archaeology. As a crude simplification processual archaeology was about the idea of archaeology as a hard science, while post-processual archaeology was about exploring archaeological sites in a more social or historical context using a variety of methods. There’s more to say about that and I will do when I find the time.
There’s also plenty of pretty pictures in some of the posts.
Elsewhere The Tangled Bank is up for the best of science blogging at Behavioral Ecology Blog. There’s also the Carnival of Space at Music of the Spheres.
