Carnivals Ahoy!
Serene or Smitten? Photo by Clix.
The History Carnival is up at Frog in a Well (Japan). Sharon is eager for hosts for the autumn and I wonder if Jonathan Dresner is helping because it’s a very well put together carnival. If I ever do it then it won’t be as good. That’s not false modesty. If you want to give it a go it is an excellent way of drawing in visitors. As for finding stuff to put in, I try and send in submissions, but I think this time only sent in the one. You’ll find if you do host and ask for help that you should have people sending in stuff that you’ve missed.
The Skeptics’ Circle also went up this week. As always there’s an interesting variety of topics being tackled.
Encephalon a neuroscience carnival is at Developing Intelligence. It’s not an area I’ve read greatly on, but when you read posts like Sex, Love, and SSRIs it’s clear I’ve been missing some bodacious stuff.
Would you rather be miserable and smitten, or serene and passionless? If you’re suffering from depression and your doctor has prescribed SSRIs (or serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors) these are your options, according to anthropologist Helen Fisher.
