Christmas Music Monday

I’m not a huge Christmas music fan, but Bill Evans playing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” is pretty great.

He recorded at least three versions of this song.

My favorite is the version with his 1964 Trio of Paul Motian and Gary Peacock from the album Trio 64:

A few years later, he recorded a overdubbed solo version of the same song on Further Conversations with Myself:

Another solo version appears on the Complete Riverside Recordings box set presumably recorded between 1956 and 1963 when Evans worked with that label.

Merry Christmas and enjoy!
