Coming soon(ish) Carnivalesque XIII

Carnivalesque Promo

Like more or less everyone else I’m busy at the moment. Nevertheless a couple of weeks ago I told Sharon Howard that I’d be willing to be host of last resort for the History Carnival or Carnivalesque. It turns out that there is no host for Carnivalesque‘s forthcoming Ancient / Medieval edition, so I’m think I may be forced to enjoy myself by reading interesting stuff, unless another host has miraculously appeared.

It’s all a bit rushed, but with March being Women’s History Month, I’d like to run another themed edition. I’ll accept anything from the Ancient and Medieval periods, even posts about masculine events like the beard-growing contests of medieval Fife. However, if one of your entries is on theme for Women’s History then I’m happy to take two entries. Also, even though it’s the Ancient / Medieval turn this month, I’ll also take Early Modern Women’s history. When does the Early Modern Period become Modern? My view is when the Suffragettes appear. They’re interesting and hopefully there’ll be plenty of stuff about them in the History Carnival and the Feminists Carnival but there’s also a lot more to women’s history marching stiffly on black and white film. Blog entries have to have been posted in 2006.

The target is for it to go live around 9am on March 13, which gives you a week if you want to write something specially for it. Emails for entries can be sent to me at carnivalesque@archaeoastronomy…fill in the rest. Realistically that makes the deadline for entries midday GMT on Sunday March 12. If you’d like to host the next A/M Carnivalesque, then see the homepage for more information. I don’t know if there’s an EM host for April yet or not, but I’m told offers to host Carnivalesque or the History Carnival are always welcome.
