Comment Policy
Created with the Dynamic Einstein Picture Generator.
I was loathe to create a comment policy. I don’t agree with everything everyone says on the site. That would be dull. One or two comments look like the authors didn’t read all of the post they were commenting on, but even so they weren’t a waste of space. In the New Year I plan to write up a bit more about how I seen religion generically working in society. Some of this will most definitely be wrong, and I don’t want to discourage people from telling me this by putting up a sign saying you must jump through these hoops before I’ll allow your comment. Particularly when the commentators here don’t seem to have any inclination to be deliberately offensive or misleading. On the other hand I suppose it’s polite to let people know where they stand.
Here was my first attempt at a comment policy.
I am firmly opposed to suppression of speech. Therefore if I delete a comment you leave on this site that you strongly feel should be heard I encourage you to set up your own weblog to tell the Truth. You may want to start by visiting www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com.
This site runs on a server I pay for myself there are a few reasons why I might delete a comment. The usual one is that you’re talking about poker, or online dating. I’m not interested in comments about either. Not even from Iuliu Maniu of Bucharest.
Because of the enthusiasm of people like Iuliu, I have moderation active on this site. This means your entries may take a while to go live. This could be anything from a few minutes to days if I’m away doing something. So if you submit multiple copies of a comment, then I’ll delete the duplicates.
I’d be grateful if you could avoid making baseless accusations of others. Libellous comments about third parties will be deleted. I’d also be happier if you could avoid excessively bad language. Feel free to call me a duplicitous rapscallion, but I’ll edit comments in a ham-fisted way to make them more friendly for open reading.
There’s only two commentators who I think haven’t read anything I’ve written before posting their private truths. They posted their comments conveniently on the same post and I’ve left them there because I’m lazy. I was tempted to delete them, but at the moment they all do a much better job of highlighting their lack of thought than I could so. If I come home in a bad mood I’ll probably delete them quietly because I don’t need to provide a billboard for bigots. They have plenty enough room to be heard anywhere else on the net if they want. So because I don’t want to with the occasional troll who might hit the site, so here’s my second attempt, which I’m going with.
This site employs the same comment policy as your least favourite braindead left/right [delete according to preference] wing weblog.
Enjoy.
Hopefully this will make absolutely no difference to people who read the site. —–
