Disaster Mapping

Thanks go to 64 Baker Street for putting this post up on her blog. It’s about the use of Google Maps in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I hadn’t been overwhelmed by the possibilities of the Google API to do anything that Google weren’t already doing, but this proves me 100% wrong.

I’m not writing anything about whether or not cutting the budget for maintaining the dykes, when FEMA had identified it at the second biggest disaster waiting to happen was a Bad Idea or not because other people woulddoitmuchbetterthanme.
