East of Byzantium in Armenia

Mother Armenia (Armenian: Մայր Հայաստան Mayr Hayastan) is a female personification of Armenia. Her most public visual rendering is a monumental statue in Victory Park overlooking the capital city of Yerevan, Armenia.

Mother Armenia outside Ijevan (Armenian: Իջևան; formerly,Karavansara), a city in Armenia and the capital of Tavush region. The marz of Tavush is located in the north of Armenia and borders on Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Emmy nominated producer William Martens spoke to Maria Titizian about filming the epic documentary-narrative series “East of Byzantium” on location in Armenia. The documentary will showcase the historic role Armenia played in the spread of Christianity.

Students from the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies were given the opportunity to assist in the production through filming time-lapse scenes, taking part as background actors and filming alongside the camera crew.
