Fancy a laptop?
If you live in Europe, Africa, the Middle East or the CIS then there’s an interesting blogging competition open. Toshiba are promoting their new computer with a blogging site Love to Lead. The idea appears that there’ll be a weekly competition asking bloggers’ opinions on a topic. They’ve opened with Will the human race ever populate another planet?
Now the plan was to be sinister and Machiavellian. I don’t seriously think I’ll win because I have a well-developed lazy streak when it comes to that kind of campaigning. What I thought though was the the site is a bit like a tightly themed blog carnival. It would be interesting to see what traffic comes from it. And in the interests of building traffic it was about now I was planning to say that there are some really good entries and then link to them.
Oh well.
It’s not all bad. I voted ‘yes’. Welshview voted ‘no’, but gave good reasons why. Looking at his site he’s finding interesting stuff on the net and I’ll visit his place again, so that’s a result. Matt G. Jones voted yes, and his entry shows I took the question far too seriously: “Like Scientology, however, I am not constrained by your petty conventional logic. I am blessed with vision and an intuitive understanding of this matter.” He’s right of course.
At the moment I’m not sure if this is going to be an great site for a few weeks or not. There are some good answers, but there’s some which are… umm… not so good. Quality looks as though it’s going to be utterly irrelevant to the voting, so finding the interesting people might be difficult. On the other hand if it’s a good question then it could be an opportunity to find some worthwhile sites that I wouldn’t have otherwise found.
I also messed up traffic-wise. By voting yes I need 52 votes to appear on the front page. If I’d thought to vote no, I’d only need 14 votes.
