Friday Music: The B52s – Funplex

The single is available from iTunes, but only in the USA I think. The album follows on March 25, unless it gets delayed again. I’m warming to it slowly. The music doesn’t sound like the B-52s to me. The guitars sound normal. One of the things that made the B52s special was that no-one sounded like them. It’s produced by Steve Osborne who work on New Order’s Get Ready, which wasn’t quite the triumph I was hoping for. On the other hand he did amazing work with Happy Mondays to the extent that he made them sound talented 🙂

Hopefully the new album is different rather than worse. Even so, the B52s on a bad day would be beat the career highs of many bands.
