Friday Quick Hits and Varia
It’s the penultimate Friday of the semester and UND has a delayed opening because overnight snow fall. The good news is that it should be largely gone by this evening. The annoying news is that we’re still dealing with snow at the end of April.
That said, I’m going to smoke a brisket tomorrow even if it means that I have to shovel a path to my smoker. And while the meats are smoking, I’m going to read a couple books, watch the Sixers, listen to the Phillies game, and prepare myself for the final push to the end of the semester. Saturday night, I’m going to watch the Davis-Garcia fight and Sunday, I’ll probably do some grading while the NASCAR guys run at Talladega. It should be a good weekend despite the snowy start.
As we wait for the roads to be clear enough to take the dogs down to their club, enjoy this small gaggle of quick hits and varia:
Neil Brodie, Morag M. Kersel & Josephine Munch Rasmussen, eds., Variant Scholarship: Ancient texts in modern contexts. 2023.
Koen De Temmerman, Julie Van Pelt, Klazina Staat, eds., Constructing Saints in Greek and Latin Hagiography: Heroes and Heroines in Late Antique and Medieval Narrative. 2023.
What I am reading: Sarah Wasserman, The Death of Things: Ephemera and the American Novel. (Minneapolis 2020).
What I am listening to: Ahmad Jamal, The Awakening.
