Friday Quick Hits and Varia

Originally, I hadn’t planned on doing a quick hits and varia today mostly because of the holiday. But I got up early and the blanket of snow on the ground outside made everything seem so peaceful, I couldn’t resist.

For those of you who keep track of such things, last night was the first night where the temperatures dipped to around 0 and they should be below zero this evening. As the Larry Potter kids say, winter is coming.

I also posted my semi-traditional, Thanksgiving morning live blog yesterday.

There’s F1 this weekend, the Eagles on Sunday (although not on TV where I live) and the Sixers continue to offer us a “basketball-like product.” That all pales to The Games on Saturday. And to my mighty Spiders taking on Lehigh in the first round of the FCS championship tournament. My family has a long history of ties to Lehigh. In fact, my grandfather was from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and he and my uncle graduated from Lehigh. My great grandfather taught at Lehigh. In other words, this one is personal. (Richmond is favored by a dozen).

I hope my American readers are enjoying their holiday weekend and find something interesting in these quick hits and varia:
