Friday Varia and Quick Hits
It’s been lovely fall week here in North Dakotaland and yesterday morning brought the first real hard frost of the year. This week has also been hella hectic and to celebrate surviving, I’m taking today off to run a bunch of errands.
As a result, tomorrow will be a writing day thanks to an Ohio State bye week. That evening the Sixers play Charlotte in a game that’s mostly interesting because it’s early in the season. On Sunday, though, I’ll enjoy the Eagles who are seeking revenge against the Giants and then watch the F1 circus in Mexico City as the championship battle is getting closer and closer. I might have time to watch some of the NASCAR guys at Martinsville. I’m still up in the air over whether I should get the Joseph Parker – Fabio Wardley fight.
Otherwise, it’s me, a stack of grading, some of my own writing, and a book or two.
Here are some quick hits and varia:
Maria Grever, Contested Public Monuments: Global perspectives on landscapes of memory. 2025.
Laris Borić, Stones of Zadar: The Capital of Venetian Dalmatia. 2025.
It’s Open Access week at NDQ and The Digital Press at UND.
The Blogs:
What I’m reading: Carl Sandburg, Chicago Poems. 1916.
What I’m listening to: Horace Silver, Silver in Seattle: Live at the Penthouse. 2025.
Another photo stolen from Dr. Rothaus. This is among my favorite. The grain on Forma Ortho400 is simply amazing. As an orthochromatic film is blows out the sky when you meter for anything lighter than the sky.
