Friday Varia and Quick Hits
It’s the final Friday of October and it feels like fall here in North Dakotaland. At this point in the semester, I’m usually just focused on the final weeks of the semester and the upcoming holidays, but this year there’s a good bit more going on. For folks interested in following the “North Dakovid” drama here’s a link to our state statistics page. Things aren’t great up here on the COVID front. It appears that our faith in being “North Dakota Smart” was misplaced.
Fortunately, there are a good many things to keep those of us hunkering down at home entertained and occupied. Apparently posting about my approach to peer reviewing in the age of COVID leads to more invitations to peer review. Who woulda thunk it?
There’s also a good bit of entertaining sport this weekend. Not only do my Ohio State Buckeyes take on Penn State on Saturday night, but the Formula 1 guys return to Imola, the NASCARlers are at Martinsville, and Naoya “The Monster” Inoue makes his US debut. The Monster is regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in world. Another on that list, Oleksandr Usyk, fights this weekend as well. The weekend rounds out with the Eagles playing against the hated Cowboys on Sunday night. Not a bad weekend with all that’s going on in the world.
I hope that your weekend is as pleasant as possible during these stressful times and filled with quick hits and varia:
The Future is Now: Archaeology and the Eradication of Anti-Blackness.
H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Centre Seconds Rotating Bezel C.02 For Collective.
What I’m reading: Dan Hick, The Bruttish Museum. (2020)
What I’m listening to: Jeff Tweedy, Love is the King.
