Friday Varia and Quick Hits
As the nation continues to enjoy a particular brisk patch of winter, we’re pleased enough here in North Dakotaland to enjoy some seasonably cool weather with highs in the mid-single digits. As they say around here, it’s cold, but it’s a dry cold.
While the NFL season ended for me last weekend (mercifully), apparently they will continue to show so-called “playoff games” over the weekend, and I’ll watch with some distracted interest. My Sixers continue to duck and dodge trade rumors as they round into mid-season form and we had hoped to watch some of the Adelaide Test match between Australia and the West Indies, but Australia made such quick work of the Windies that it barely lasted into the second session of day three!
Once again, a cold, but quiet winter weekend is great for reading and, of course, some quick hits and varia:
“The Fate of Antiquities in the Nazi Era” Special Issue of RIHA Journal.
Syllabus (h/t to Richard Rothaus).
World Architecture, Climate, and Ecology: An Alternative History.
What I’m reading: José V. Pimienta-Bey, Othello’s Children in the “New World”: Moorish History & Identity In The African American Experience. 2002.
What I’m listening to: Zoh Amba, Chris Corsano, and Bill Orcutt, The Flower School.
