Friday Varia and Quick Hits

It’s a snowy Friday here in North Dakotaland and I’m by the fire trying to wrap my myriad odds and ends before a week of conferences in warmer climes. It looks like we got enough snow to make the neighborhood look nice, but not enough to cancel classes. This is always the best amount of snow, in my opinion, although I can still enjoy the occasional snow day.
My guess is that this early snow will be gone by this evening leaving only slushy memories. I’ll spend a soggy and chilly weekend chasing my tail, but I’ve penciled in time to watch the Formula 1 guys in Mexico City, Ohio State play Wisconsin, and I’ll keep an eye on the Sixers tomorrow when Nick Nurse returns to Toronto. I’m also vaguely curious about the Foster-Hernandez junior lightweight title fight tomorrow. I’m not curious enough to turn off a close OSU-Wisconsin game, but I’m open to watching it if the game isn’t competitive.
Otherwise, my weekend will be spent writing emails and putting together a stack of books to read during travel. In the meantime, I’m happy to share some quick hits and varia:
Rodney Harrison, Nélia Dias, and Kristian Kristiansen eds., . 2023.
The Most Controversial Statue in America Surrenders to the Furnace.
