Friday Varia and Quick Hits
The leaves are changing and it looks like fall here in North Dakotaland, but according to the thermometer we’re going to have one more summer weekend. I’m going to try to enjoy temperatures in the 80s this weekend and bank as much of that warmth as I can before the long, dark, cold, winter.
This is a pretty quiet sports weekend with the Buckeyes off and the Eagles not being shown on our local station. The Canelo-Charlo fight is of interest, but styles make fights and I can’t see this fight offering enough excitement to be worth the pay-per-view and staying up past my bedtime. I might be up early enough tomorrow to catch the end of the India-Australia T20 match. I feel like Australia is playing a bit like my Phillies right now. All the pieces are in place for a very strong limited overs side (in the lead up to the World Cup), but they have to all play well at the same time to produce results.
I am finalizing two books this weekend, so stay tuned for some sneak peeks next week from The Digital Press. With any luck the next issue of NDQ will go to press first thing Monday morning.
In the meantime, I’ll hang out here with some quick hits and varia:
Some blogs to watch:
What I’m reading: Ytasha Womack, Afrofuturism: The World of Black Sci-Fi and Fantasy Culture. 2013.
What I’m listening to: Sam Rivers, Sizzle.
