Friday Varia and Quick Hits

With about 20% of the semester behind us and the trees starting to change, it feels like fall here in North Dakotaland. I’m starting to think of vegetarian chili, cool nights, and taking down the front garden.

It is obviously the first week of the NFL season and the Eagles play the Patriots on Sunday. College football gets down to business as well with a slate of largely mediocre games with double digit spreads. On Saturday morning Australia continues their limited over clash with South Africa. In Spain, the Vuelta heads into the mountains with today’s stage featuring the Col du Tourmalet. More importantly, the American Sepp Kuss leads the race. 

I’m struggling a bit to get into my autumnal routine, but have some books, some editing, and some typesetting to get finished this weekend before the semester drops on me in earnest. In the meantime here are some quick hits and varia:
