Friday Varia and Quick Hits

It’s finally Friday and I’m looking forward to this weekend as much as any early semester weekend in recent memory. Not only do I have a stack of papers to grade, but some reading for class, some final touches on a book project, and with just a bit of luck, I’ll still have time to chip away at my “should read” pile of articles and book chapters. 

It won’t be all work and no play, though. I’m excited to watch the Daytona 500 on Sunday where long cautions offer a great break to read a couple student papers or scrawl some words on the ole blog. I’m also looking forward to the Leigh Wood – Mauricio Lara fight on Saturday. It’s taken me a while to warm to Wood’s style, but I’ve come to appreciate his doggedness in the famous squared circle. Finally, I’ll keep a bored eye on the second Australia-India Test. I don’t have much confidence that Australia can keep this one close, but they’re off to a better start than in the first test.
