Friday Varia and Quick Hits
It’s finally Friday. Weeks this semester seem to be both longer than usual but also to pass more quickly. It’s very strange. It is nice to see the weekend just around the corner, though, even if it means the return of more seasonal temperatures and the anxiety that comes from watching one’s childhood team compete for the Super Bowl. (Fortunately, the first test of the Australian tour of India should come to an end long before Sunday allowing me to focus entirely on the Super Bowl).
To occupy my time this weekend before the big game, I have a couple manuscripts to read, a gaggle of NDQ publication agreements to circulate, and, as I mentioned yesterday, I have some layout and revision to complete on a very cool NDQ project.
I also have a plan to do a better job assembling some quick hits and varia, but until then, please enjoy this short list:
Elisabeth Niklasson, “Heritage and Belonging in Times of Political Polarization” in Polarized Pasts: Heritage and Belonging in Times of Political Polarization (2023).
Yorgos Paschos (2023), “Exploring the Forgotten: The evidential heritage values of grassroots music venues”, Riffs: Experimental Writing on Popular Music 6(2): 66-77.
Yannis Stouraitis, “Is Byzantinism an Orientalism? Reflections on Byzantium’s constructed identities and debated ideologies,” in Y. Stouraitis (ed.), Identities and Ideologies in the Medieval East Roman World, Edinburgh Byzantine studies (Edinburgh: EUP, 2022), 19-47
Some things to watch featuring The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota authors:
Kassa Overall, Shades 3.
What I’m reading: Manuscripts!
What I’m listening to: Giant Sand (various).
