At some point during the second day of our current storm, I started to feel a bit sorry for myself until I remembered that there were people in the world who never get to experience a three- or even two-day blizzard. Once I realized that, I started to feel a bit better and counted myself fortunate indeed.

This time of year is always a good one for books, music, and sports. As the semester winds down I find myself with more time to indulge in frivolous reading, the myriad year end lists always provide some fresh musical ear-candy, and the NFL season, NBA season, and the Australia cricket season overlap ensuring there is almost always something on TV to while away the evening hours.

It is also a good time to conjure up some ill-considered ideas, to consider returning to some stalled projects, and to get working on projects that I had put off one too many times.
