Good News

I’ve had some good news. The scans and biopsy results are back. It turns out I have the nicest, friendliest form of cancer. Not only that but it doesn’t appear to have spread, so the currently there’s an 80% chance of survival beyond ten years. This will improve to 95% after a brief dose of chemotherapy, which I’ll have in a few weeks.

Nonetheless I’m taking a short break as I’m a bit tired at the moment. This isn’t the most stressful thing I’m dealing with right now. It’s probably about number three, rising to number one by the end of next week.

I’ll spend the time polishing two papers which I want to submit as soon as I get the nod from my supervisors and writing up a third one on Roman astronomy which I’d like to submit within two or three months. It’s an offshoot of a review of Time in Antiquity which I was going to write after reading the book in hospital. If I can I’ll put up a really weird and mad idea about the early Roman calendar which I’ve had which is derived from that. There’s no real evidence for it, but it would solve a lot of problems. I just want to make sure there’s no evidence for it before I put it up here, because if there is then I’d rather put it in a paper first.
