How do you know where to dig?

It’s a common question. The answer might be from aerial photos, survey, finds from fieldwalking, or simply that people have dug there before. It seems archaeologists at Cambridge University have their own special tools. Found on Amazon and very real.

It seems slightly at odds with the work of their Illicit Antiquities Research Centre who produce an excellent journal Culture without Context.

I don’t know what’s more embarassing, the picture of the boy digging away on the box, or the fact it’s selling for under sixteen quid.
