It’s Political Correctness Gone Mentally Divergent!

Tony Keen points out the latest bit of political foolishness, this time by a Tory. A rising star(?) in the Conservatives complained about a museum featuring labels marked BP rather than BC for prehistoric artefacts on December 25.

Mr Davies, MP for Shipley in West Yorkshire, told the BBC “Somebody decided that BC – Before Christ – was going to be offensive to other religions, so they changed BC to BP, which was Before the Present, I think it stood for.

Tony Keen explains why BP definitely isn’t a politically correct BC. Basically, it’s a dating system used when there’s doubt and uncertainty, not a concept familiar to any politician. The depressing punchline is that the museum had already pointed out this wasn’t about being PC on November 4. It was covered in somewhat greater detail by the Weston Mercury on the eleventh of November.

You never get what you want for Christmas do you? I wanted a credible opposition to the government.
