More Carnivals
There’s a rush of them coming out at the moment. History Carnival 27 is up at History : Other. There’s some interesting stuff to be found.
The Carnival of Bad History went up a couple of days ago. I think Ahistoricality has done a great job with the carnival, particularly given the problems of lack of submissions. I was one of the people who didn’t put in a submission, partly because I’m busy and not keeping that much of an eye on blogs at the moment. I also have some concerns about the range of the carnival in general, rather than specifically Ahistoricality’s execution of it. It’s not that I don’t think it’s an issue, Ahistoricality’s right to point out “…the educational potential, political abuses and cultural damage of bad history…” which are a problem. My other post today indicates the direction my thoughts are moving. I may post something up for the next carnival as a lightning rod to attract better ideas of how you tackle history abuse. The official rules for writing prehistoric fiction are unmissable.
Finally The Tangled Bank is up, with a mention of a Sky Disc of some sort in the Psychology section, which I think is a good place to put it. One of the big questions is how willing are we to see patterns where there may not be any? It also includes a useful section on ethics.
