More Photos
I’ve scanned a few more photos over the weekend and added them to the Greece album. They’re mainly sites around Attica, and include this photo of the temple of Artemis Brauronia.
This was a temple where every four years the Brauronia was held. This was when young girls (8-11 yrs old I think) were admitted for service to the goddess. Pottery suggests they spent some time dancing like bears in a rolling motion. At this point I could suggest that the Arktoi, the Bears were circumpolar constellations that rotated around the celestial pole, but there’s a big gap between suggesting and proving (or even sounding plausible).
