Music Monday: Some New Music
I know that I usually share older tunes that form part of my musical education, but sometimes when a wave of new stuff hits all at once, I can’t help but share something new.
Here’s a four-fer (excluding Mary Halvorson’s About Ghosts, which I’ll undoubtedly post about later in the summer!)
First, check out Terri Lyne Carrington and Christie Dashiell’s reimagining of the Max Roach classic We Insist! Readers of my blog know how much I respect and admire Max Roach and how disappointed that more buzz wasn’t made about his centennial. I’m glad to enjoy this tribute:
Also check out Brandee Younger’s new album, Gadabout Season on her own label!
I’ve enjoyed a first listen to Theo Croker’s latest: Dream Manifest which features his special guests as much as his own distinctive trumpet.
Finally, I’m really digging the chilled out strains of Robert Glasper’s latest: Let Go.
