Music Monday: Walking Music

I’ve had a bit of GIS to do this past week and had some nice long late afternoon walks and this have given me a chance to listen to some music. 

Yesterday, I enjoyed two newly released albums, in fact. First, I enjoyed Takuya Kuroda’s 2025 album Everyday.

The track that seems to getting the most buzz is “Car 16 15 A”. I enjoy Akira Ishiguro’s guitar and Rashaan Carter’s bass on this track (as well as Kuroda’s trumpet [although the over dubbing is sometimes a bit much]).

I also enjoyed the new Marshall Allen album with his group Ghost Horizons: Live in Philadelphia. It’s fun to hear an album recorded at a venue that I know, Philadelphia’s Solar Myth and featuring an Allstar cast of musicians (some of whom regularly feature on this blog!). From what I can tell this is the first album released by Ars Nova, the operation that runs Solar Myth.

I also circled back to an album that I wanted to spend some more time with: James Brandon Lewis’s Apple Cores. I’ve mentioned before that I think of Lewis as the future of jazz saxophone. This album feels like a statement (and it took its name from Amiri Baraka’s famous Downbeat column of the same name).
