New Books

I’ll be posting more infrequently for a while, or else at least shorter, so I may not be responding to comments as fast as I’d like. I have a couple of books to read Wolpert’s Six Impossible Things and David Sloan Wilson’s Darwin’s Cathedral. In the case of the latter this is a hangover from January last year. I got it via inter-library loan, but didn’t have time to adequately read it, so I’ve finally got a cheap edition via Amazon’s second-hand listings.

I think there’s a lot to be said for evolutionary explanations of society, but I’m not keen on memes, at least not the meme as gene model. For more on David Sloan Wilson’s work there’s info at A Blog Around the Clock.
