Not dead, just working

I’ve had a couple of urgent projects to work on recently, so I’ve not been spending much time with the weblog. You may notice a couple of changes over the next couple of days tied into this, but otherwise I will probably only be writing one or two times a week.

One of the recent changes I should mention is that I’ve activated Amazon Contextual Links to see if they work as a more ethical alternative to Google Ads. What it does is automatically put links to Amazon into the text, which could be useful if it links to books like Greek Art and Archaeology by John Pedley when I mention them. I am aware it could be confusing if it also links to general terms like Ancient History. I’m not interested in tricking people into clicking links. So what I’ve done is altered the Amazon links. If you see a link with a double-underline then it’s a link to Amazon. Also Amazon links should only appear within my text, so your comments aren’t going to be peppered with them. When I see how they work, I’ll also add a note in the column on the right.

It’s a trial. If they don’t work then they’ll go the way of Google Ads. If you don’t like them then feel free to leave a comment below.
