Presenting HBO’s Rome Series
Having problems to imagine the times, the characters or the dressings of ancient Romans? Or just too bored to read and want to learn one of the most important periods of ancient Roman history? I really think that I have the best option for you in this case. I highly recommend watching the “Rome” HBO docuseries which has two seasons with 12 and 10 episodes. This series was one of the coolest docuseries I had ever seen in my life because it does not just teach you a lot of cool stuff about that period but it also has a very interesting storyline that is very exciting to follow. The series starts with the conflict between Julius Caesar and Pompey the great who were at the time consuls, but Pompey did not seem very happy with the triumphs of Julius Caesar, so he decided to make Caesar an enemy of the people. It ends with the death of Mark Anthony, and his lover, Cleopatra after the battle of Actium.
The coolest part about the docuseries is that it depicts in most cases the reality of the times. The story in most cases is the truth, the dressings, the roads, and the characters are very much alike to those times. Even with the many real elements, there is a fictional part that keeps the story moving in such a way that it does not get boring. Because of this is very easy to fall in his trap and see the two seasons in a record period. But I don’t recommend doing this, instead, I recommend you to watch the show very attentive and don’t forget to google every little thing you do not understand about it. When watching the last episode of season 2 I am pretty sure that you will be very crazy about the series and at the end, you will just keep asking yourself: “Ahw, so that’s it? Why does not have a season 3? The answer is very simple kind and enthusiast readers. The series was so expensive to make that they simply stopped making it. They spent so much money to make it look like it was at the times that it was not worth for them. They filmed every scene near Rome and they used the best materials to make the characters dressings look like at the times. I really hope that I did convince you to watch the series, I promise, you won’t regret it.
With this occasion, I would also like to give you a very valuable but FREE ebook for you with the title “Truth and fiction in HBO’s Rome”. This will be very helpful for you to see what is fictional and what is true in the docuseries. When I watched the series I did not have one, so I had to google it.
