Seen Elsewhere

I thought I has something amusing for today, but alas not. It was amusing, but fact-checking revealed it might not be true. Actually, if I made a series of wild assertions and accusation you couldn’t prove me wrong, but I need to get myself a new tinfoil hat.

Still there’s plenty of other things to read. To my surprise I was listed in the recent history carnival. I think that can be a difficult one to host. There’s often a huge mass of submissions and there’s not many people who are experts in every period in history. This host dropped a few submissions for example. I’ve put in articles for other history carnivals and seen them ignored unused (it can feel like you’re ignored) and you just have to accept that this time around you weren’t writing what the host was looking for.

ADM at Blogenspiel speculates about some medieval processions. Obviously the teachers go last, but where should everyone else slot in?

It’s Heb Sed at Ma’at. This link might make more sense than the description I gave. The scavenger hunt is a great idea. I may use it for my own nefarious ends by adding a twists like “translate the following text:…”

I’ve also lost the other bookmarks I had alas so I’ll plug myself at i-Science writing on extinctions in China (with a link to an episode of Douglas Adams’s Last Chance to See) and Africa and on Art (you can make your own Mondrian-like work or a load of Pollocks).

VirologyBytes has started a new series of summer specials. This week What is a Virus? Included is the chemical formula of a virus, though exactly which one escapes my memory.

Finally on Radio 4: Just A Minute is back on air, and has been for a little while. Bearded Ladies has just started a new series, I haven’t made up my mind about that one yet. The Now Show is back without Marcus Brigstocke from Friday. That can be hilarious. Finally there’s Greek Comedy In Our Time as a podcast till Thursday. I think Natalie Bennett probably mentioned that at Philobiblon with a bit more notice.
