The History Carnival XI is up
Siris has been gathering together the best history posts on the web for History Carnival XI. There’s also one of mine there, but everyone makes mistakes.
There’s some good stuff there, but the most interesting parts is the Special Section, a panel on The Post-Genocidal State. Unfortunately a couple of the posts aren’t active at the moment, but it appears that this isn’t how Germany has responded to the aftermath of genocide, rather how the victims react. The three key cases are Armenia, Israel and Rwanda. I think that there’s the potential to this kind of thing well as collective posting. For instance taking some issues like citizenship or appeals to a Golden Age or Crime and giving the topic to several people working from differing periods. I don’t know if it would work well as a carnival. Certainly not in my case – I have real difficulty writing on a specific subject to a deadline. It might work as a meme though with people adding there a comment like “I’ve been tagged by the Mind Meme” or whatever the subject is onto an originator site.
