Things to do

  1. Get the data block of my PhD in to my supervisors for checking.Once this is out of the way I can get onto the more fun bits of the thesis, before going back to plug the inevitable gaps. I did want 30k words done by this stage, and that won’t happen, but I can at least try and get as close as I can.

  2. Write up a short “How to use WordPress” piece for the TUP editors. If I do that I can effectively withdraw from TUP and do my own thing. Contrary to what the website might look like TUP isn’t supposed to be my personal site.

  3. ? Re-write Dolphins for the Postgraduate Forum conference if they want it.I’ve offered them the paper “Style Obscures Content”. It’s a paper on PowerPoint which was due to go into TUP, but I heard nothing back from the editors after four months. Given our USP was supposed to be speedy refereeing that’s a bit embarassing.

  4. Re-write a classical version of DolphinsNot sure if this will be a straight re-write – which would have to be listed as a co-authorship, possibly with my name second, or if it’ll be a general paper on the Greek calendar.

  5. NebraThis is almost ready to go. I should check for image permissions and sort out a publisher, but it’s more or less finished and it’s polite. Which is nice, as I think the people theorising about the disc are wrong for interesting reasons. The Cafe Scientifique talk is more or less ready too.

  6. Pithekoussai SherdThis is also largely written. It’s about what is arguably the oldest accurate star chart, with implications for the origins of the constellations. It’ll definitely be an article. I’m not sure if I’ll prepare a talk on it as the relevant audience is spread across Europe rather than the UK.

  7. AHRB English thingA re-write (?) of Generation Two, another paper withdrawn from TUP. This was an extended editorial, but again after four months it was going nowhere. Ironically it’s about how to set up a hypertext journal that works. I’m sure it does work in theory.

  8. Transverse thingA re-write of the abysmally titled “Carried Beyond the Sky on Rainbow Feathered Wings”, which argues that inter(trans, multi, x)disciplinarity is a bit of a fad. Not sure if the organisers will want it as they’re terribly keen on transdisciplinarity.

  9. Popfest 2005Not sure if I’ll offer a paper. I certainly won’t be playing bass.

  10. HeadshockCurrently exists as a poorly written email to Clare and conversations with a few people who couldn’t get away in time. I’ll need to contact Psych.
