Three Book Wednesday

The last year or so has been kind of exciting in terms of working with colleagues to edit and publish books. There are three new books that are now (or very close to being!) available that I had some small part of shepherding through the publication process.
First, I’m excited to get my copy of Joel Burnett’s The Amman Theater Statue in its Iron Age Contexts which appeared under my editorship of the Annual of ASOR as Volume 75. Without trivializing this thing, the statue is BIG and in a Roman context, but as Burnett argues, it’s almost certainly Iron Age and likely 9th century BC. Check out more about it here.

The next two Annual of ASOR volumes are dedicated to the publication of Danielle Park’s work at the Kourion Amathous Gate Cemetery: City and Cemetery: Excavations at Kourion’s Amathous Gate Cemetery, Cyprus: The Excavations of Danielle A. Parks. These two volumes detail the result of these excavations and opened a valuable new window into the history and archaeology of this important Roman city on Cyprus. Some more details here.

Finally, I have a flyer for the book that I co-edited with Kostis Kourelis and Dar Brooks Hedstrom: Beyond Icons: Theories and Methods in Byzantine Archaeology in North America. It looks like it’ll appear on September 19th. Here’s a flyer for the book.
