Turning Laziness into an Art Form
…or I could possibly be working on other stuff.
No proper post today. I did want to put up something on Debi’s question about how do you get someone to take a claim seriously if you’re not an academic. The answer’s taking a fair amount of thought so it won’t be up today. I’ve not even got anything scanned from Star-Names at the moment. I have about 3/4 of Aquarius ready, but it’ll take quite a bit of resetting with Greek typography and so on, so that might not resume until the weekend.
I took a night off last night to go to Cafe Scientifique in Leicester, there’ll be a review of that sometime. I can also say that William Hutton’s trek across Hadrian’s Wall will be making an appearance, but possibly not until November. I’ve decided there are more things that could be done with that.
In the meantime there are always other blogs, which act as a further distraction. Copernicus Sashimi has linked to a useful site with Quick Time movies for the History of Astronomy. Butterflies and Wheels is as provocative as ever. Blogographos is undergoing a bout of activity. There is an interesting discussion about the Ancient Greek Harry Potter and the collapse of civilisation. History isn’t quite bunk at Early Modern Notes.
…oh and there’s something odd in this quarter’s Antiquity. To read it you’ll need £15 to download the paper. An online subscription for the whole year is only £35, so I think anyone downloading the individual paper has more money than sense. Sadly an accurate description of me, as I have tuppence to my name.
While I remember the excellent Opera browser is free, for today only. Visit Opera to download the browser and then the registration page to get the free code. Offer closes midnight CET.
