Twenty Comments Wednesdays

Yes I know it’s Saturday.

Along with a few people (at least 19 by my estimate) I was visited by Candy Minx and the Goddess in the City who commented here as part of a quota. The aim is to comment on twenty other blogs on a Wednesday. If you look at Annie Rhiannon‘s comment at Goddess in the City, you can see how this could be misinterpreted, but if you take rule two Try to say something that contributes to the blog, rather than just “Hello” seriously then it’s an interesting idea. It’s particularly interesting when you see who you’re listed between.

Traffic-wise does it make any difference? Martin found it added one reader. I on the other hand can show a clear change in the number of visitors logged on Wednesday.

Above is the chart that all WordPress.com users get showing the number of unique visitors that I grabbed during yesterday. For the Wednesday I was down about a third on the previous couple of days. There are a couple of reasons why it would be hard to track the effect of the comments though.

One is that a large number of visitors are visiting for just one topic. If there isn’t a flame war on a message board somewhere then visits are down. Another factor, which I think may have contributed, is that Wednesday was the day the WordPress.com logging system broke.
