Viking Names

A while back I had a Viking Name Generator online. This is that revived. Really it’s to test what I can do with form attribute in a post. If it all messes up then all you’ll see is a link to the Viking Name page – else you’ll see a form below.

Enter your Name:

Gender: Female Male

Since it went off line I’ve found a couple of other viking name generators at the Quarter and Gorm.

There’s nothing researched about it – it’s merely a bit of fun with string reading and randomisation.

Update Jun 1: I was a bit surprised that this became popular. There are a couple of other links I should include while I remember. The forenames were taken from Viking Names found in the Landnámabók. The script is a minor adaptation of the Wu-Name script.

So far no complaints, except from Phil Mills who questions the random nature of the script.
