Writing the Hard Way

I hope I’ve just finished a chapter for the Oxford Handbook of Hellenic Studies. The actual re-write has been short, the problem is writing when the computers you’re working on shut-down through hardware faults or start smoking. Four computers – in the past two weeks, though I don’t know if they all count as one was a computer I’ve already tried fixing. I’d like to say more about it as it’s a really interesting way of writing a textbook, but it’s not my project. Hopefully it’ll be out next year and I’ll say more then -though if I ever write a textbook myself then I’ll shamelessly rip-off the idea.

I’ve still got a couple more urgent things to deal with, so I don’t expect to be blogging regularly for a little while, but I may get time to start reading blogs again, so there may be del.icio.us posts.

One of the things I’ve missed by being stuck in work is the pending tragedy of the Hadza. Christopher O’Brien at Northstate Science has plenty of information on the people who are about to be evicted from their land and why.
